The first movie version of the popular detective drama series starring Oda Yuji, "Bayside Shakedown THE MOVIE" (directed by Motohiro Katsuyuki, 1998), will be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturday 9pm) on September 28th.

"Bayside Shakedown" is a popular series that began airing on Fuji TV in January 1997. The protagonist, Aoshima Shunsaku (Oda), is an unusual detective who quit his job to join the Wangan Police Station's Criminal Investigation Division. Although he is confused by the gap between his ideals and reality as a detective, he tackles cases with sincerity, sometimes passionately and sometimes with humor. The first movie version, "Bayside Shakedown THE MOVIE," grossed 10.1 billion yen and attracted 7 million viewers.

The story is as follows: One afternoon, a drowned body with a surgical scar on its abdomen, stitched up with embroidery thread, is discovered in a river under the jurisdiction of Wangan Police Station. At first, it was thought to be a suicide, but an autopsy revealed a stuffed teddy bear in the stomach, and the case developed into a bizarre murder. Meanwhile, a series of thefts occurred in the criminal investigation department of Wangan Police Station. The forensic section took photographs and fingerprints as evidence, and examined the scene, causing chaos on the criminal investigation department floor.

Then that night, an incident occurred that caused even more turmoil at Wangan Police Station. A random terrorist attack occurred that shocked the main police station and the National Police Agency, and many helicopters and unmarked patrol cars converged on Wangan Police Station. The Metropolitan Police Department immediately concluded a press agreement with the media and set up an investigation headquarters at Wangan Police Station, but the investigation was extremely difficult due to a series of unprecedented incidents, and the National Police Agency finally gave up on the top-secret investigation and terminated the press agreement. The case finally developed into an open investigation including the media. Aoshima and Waku Heihachiro (Ikariya Chosuke) began their own investigation. However, the evil hand of a violent criminal was creeping up on them...

The film will also star Toshiro Yanagiba, Eri Fukatsu, and Miki Mizuno.

To commemorate the theatrical release of the first new film in 12 years, the two-part series "Muroi Shinji: The Unconquerable" (directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro) and "Muroi Shinji: The Living One" (directed by the same company) on October 11th and 15th, respectively, Fuji TV will be broadcasting the other four "Bayside Shakedown" film versions in sequence as part of the "Odoru Project."
