The new cast of the NHK Taiga drama "Hikaru Kimi e" (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring Yoshitaka Yuriko, was announced on the drama's official X (formerly Twitter), and it was revealed that Uemura Kaisei will play Fujiwara no Yorimune.

Fujiwara no Yorimune is the eldest son of Michinaga and Minamoto no Akiko. He grew up carrying the expectations of his mother Akiko, who competed with Michiko. Compared to Michinaga and Michiko's eldest son Yorimichi, he was slow to rise in rank, but later, together with his siblings, he supported his half-sister Akiko.

Uemura commented, "This is a personal matter, but my dream of playing the role of a Heian aristocrat and wearing that costume has finally come true. The character I will be playing, Fujiwara no Yorimune, seems to be a reaction to his mother Akiko's overly enthusiastic education, but rather than the type of person who is driven by a desire to succeed, he has grown up to be a quiet and gentle person. I would like to have as much fun as I can playing the dream Heian aristocrat!"

"Hikaru Kimi e" is the 63rd Taiga drama. The story is set in the aristocratic society of the mid-Heian period, and the protagonist is Murasaki Shikibu (Mahiro), who later wrote "The Tale of Genji," said to be the world's oldest novel written by a woman. The screenplay was written by Oishi Shizuka, who is writing a taiga drama for the second time since "Koumyou ga Tsuji" in 2006, and depicts the glittering world of Heian aristocrats and the life of a woman who lived, wrote, and loved with all her heart.
