It has been announced that the first of the 50th anniversary projects for the popular anime "Space Battleship Yamato" will be held on October 6th at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) as the "Space Battleship Yamato 50th Anniversary Commemoration Anniversary Day Screening Produced by Anno Hideaki." The one-night-only screening event will be held in 2024, exactly 50 years after the TV broadcast began at 7:30 pm on October 6th, 1974, and will be planned and produced by director Anno Hideaki, known for the "Evangelion" series, among others.

A special talk event will also be held. Director Anno will act as MC, and guests will include Izubuchi Yutaka, who worked on "Space Battleship Yamato 2199," and anime and special effects researcher Hikawa Ryusuke. The event will be broadcast live at movie theaters nationwide. The films to be screened will be announced in the future.

The 50th anniversary logo for "Space Battleship Yamato" has also been released. Director Anno was in charge of the overall design and the handwritten lettering of "YAMATO," while Izubuchi was in charge of the rocket anchor-style emblem and the design of the number "50."

The first "Space Battleship Yamato" TV anime was broadcast in 1974, and other works have been produced, including "Space Battleship Yamato 2," "Space Battleship Yamato: Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato," and "Space Battleship Yamato: Resurrection." A remake of the first film, "Space Battleship Yamato 2199," was screened in theaters from 2012 to 2014, and the sequel to "2199," "Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Warriors of Love," was broadcast in theaters and on TV from 2017 to 2019.
