The premiere screening of the mystery film "About a Place in the Kinki Region" (directed by Shiraishi Koji, scheduled for release on August 8th), co-starring actors Miho Kanno and Akaso Eiji, has been scheduled for July 16th, and a promotional video featuring the two has been released.
The venue for the premiere screening has only been revealed as "a certain place in the Kinki region," and in order to attend, one must find that "certain place." At this stage, the only clue leading to the location is a report by a newspaper company, whose name was withheld, published on its official website. Three documents are transcripts of interviews with local residents during on-site reporting on the "certain place in the Kinki region."
On the day, Kanno, Akaso, and Director Shiraishi are scheduled to appear on stage. In the announcement video released this time, Kanno and Akaso are shown looking a little strange.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Sekinsan (KADOKAWA), which has sold over 350,000 copies. An editor of an occult magazine suddenly goes missing... Until just before his disappearance, he had been gathering various pieces of information, such as investigative materials from unsolved cases, feature articles on mysterious phenomena, and shelved interview notes from the past, and was investigating something. While searching for him, his fellow editor Ozawa (Akaso) and reporter Chihiro (Kanno) discover that all of these events took place in "a certain place in the Kinki region." This is a new type of "location mystery" that asks why the incidents occur in that particular place.
