A love story combining "gourmet food" and "adultery": Co-starring roles in TV Tokyo drama "Just Eating Together"
It has been revealed that actors Akari Hayami and Kentaro Ito will co-star in the TV Tokyo drama "Just Eating Together" (Thursdays at midnight) starting in July. The drama is a love story about two married people who are drawn to each other as they share meals, combining "gourmet food" and "adultery," and will begin airing on July 2nd.
The story is based on the manga of the same name by Terrace Omachi (published by Kodansha in "Comic DAYS"). Sawada Taki, a cooking instructor who feels empty in her daily life with her husband who never says her cooking is delicious, and Saito Rei, a magazine editor whose wife only prepares frozen meals and who wants to feed her vegetable-hating daughter home-cooked meals but whose wife won't accept his desire, meet through work, cook together, eat together, and fulfill each other's needs. Drawn to each other through work, the two find themselves torn between love, food, and ethics...
Miho Aotsuka, known for works such as "Mushoran Mitsuboshi" (NHK) and "The Taigan no Kaji" (TBS), is in charge of the script. Shu Yoshino, known for the "Laid-Back Camp" series, is in charge of direction.
Hayami, who plays Taki, commented, "Each of the couples has their own unique personality, so I think that different viewers will relate to completely different characters. I'm personally looking forward to seeing which character resonates with the most people." Regarding her impression of Ito, she said, "He eats his food with such gusto! He's a mischievous boy! I think he really enjoys his food!"
Ito, who plays the role of Rei, commented on Hayami, saying, "My impression of her is that she is a very cheerful person. Filming started the other day, and we haven't had much opportunity to communicate yet, so I'm very excited to see what kind of set it will be." He added, "I think it will be a work in which various human desires are intertwined. I hope you will look forward to a new kind of drama that has never been seen before. Also, personally, I think there are many scenes that will whet your appetite if you watch it at night, so I would be happy if you could enjoy watching it while your stomach is rumbling."
