The latest full 3DCG animated feature film in the popular "Tom and Jerry" series, "Tom and Jerry: The Magic Compass of Time" (distributed by Clockworks), will be released on May 29th. To commemorate this, it has been announced that TOKYO MX will broadcast the feature-length animated film "Tom and Jerry's Treasure Island" as a special program from 7:00 PM to 8:24 PM on May 24th. The broadcast will conclude with the first-ever television airing of the opening scene from the new film.
"Tom and Jerry" is a slapstick comedy short animated series featuring the world's most famous cat, Tom, and mouse, Jerry, as they engage in all sorts of chases in each episode. It celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2025.
The animated feature film "Tom and Jerry's Treasure Island," which will be broadcast, was produced in 2006. Tom sets sail as a henchman of the notorious pirate and villain, Captain Red. Tired of cleaning the deck every day, Tom discovers a jar containing a map to the location of treasure. However, the map is being guarded by Jerry! Tom wants the treasure, and Jerry tries to protect it. What seems like their usual chase turns into a surprising truce, and they join forces to embark on a grand adventure against monkeys throwing coconuts, a giant octopus, and pirates also after the treasure...
The film is directed by Scott Gerald, executive produced by Joseph Barbera and Sander Schwartz, and the music is by Mark Watters. The voice cast includes Kaneta Kimotsuki as Tom, Junko Hori as Jerry, Yusaku Yara as Paul, Toru Okawa as the red parrot, Sadatomo Ichiryusai as the blue parrot, and Shiro Saito as Ron/Bob/the purple parrot.
Furthermore, at the end of the program, the opening scene of the latest film, "Tom and Jerry: The Magic Compass That Travels Through Time," will be shown on television for the first time. Viewers can enjoy the cute sight of Jerry heading to the museum and get a sneak peek at the new world of Tom and Jerry, depicted entirely in CGI.
