Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, known as "Rikuryu," who won the gold medal in the pairs figure skating event at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, will appear on "Sunday's First-Time Learning" (MBS/TBS network, Sundays at 10 PM) on May 17th.
The two said they had "given it their all," and that their decision to retire had been firm even before the season began. They revealed the reasons behind their resolute yet weighty decision to retire without waiting for the Milan Olympics.
In pairs skating, the most demanding aspect is entrusting your life to each other. On the ice, where the risk of serious injury is ever-present, Kihara told Miura, "Even if you fall, I'll get underneath you, so it's okay." This program explores how these two, separated by a nine-year age difference, forged the "world's strongest bond" and delves into their ultimate relationship of trust.
On the other hand, they also revealed anecdotes about "secretly eating chocolate" during breaks in their rigorous training, and how they use "chocolate cookies" to make up after heated arguments. They also spoke about the "next challenge" they are looking towards, and their passionate dream of nurturing the next generation.
On this episode, Lay, the only Japanese member of the girl group "IVE," will also appear remotely.
