In episode 20, Matsumoto begins to explain to Kanade why he decided to start a radio show. Immediately after the earthquake, Matsumoto was trapped under a collapsed building and became extremely distraught, a sight his son, Genta, witnessed. Because of that memory, Genta has become frightened every time he sees his father, Matsumoto. Matsumoto started the radio show with the hope of somehow bringing back Genta's smile and creating broadcasts that would make him laugh.
