In the 23rd episode (aired April 29th) of the NHK Asadora drama series "Kaze,Kaoru " (NHK General, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 AM, etc.), Ai Mikami and Juri Kosaka , what scene captivated viewers the most? We examined the minute-by-minute changes in "attention level" (according to REVISIO, Kanto region, preliminary figures), which indicates the percentage of viewers glued to the screen, and found that the peak was 76.8% at 8:12 AM, the highest record for " Kaze,Kaoru".
"Kaze,Kaoru" is based on the story of two trained nurses, Chika Ozeki and Masa Suzuki, who graduated from the same nursing school. The drama depicts how these two women struggle with how to interact with patients and doctors, clash with each other, grow as individuals, and eventually become the "ultimate buddy duo." Mikami plays Rin Ichinose, and Uesaka plays Naomi Oya.
◇Over 70% from the start
In episode 23, both Naomi (Uesaka) and Tae (Ikuta Erika) are racking their brains over how to translate a word that appears repeatedly in Nightingale's writings. Rin (Mikami) suggests that they all cooperate with each other. Meanwhile, Mitsu (Mizuno Miki) visits Mizuho-ya and asks Usaburo (Bando Yajuro) to hire her.
The "attention level," which indicates the percentage of viewers watching the screen intently, remained above 70% from the opening of the program until the end, without dropping significantly. It rose sharply towards the end, peaking at 8:12 AM.
The data used is REVISIO's proprietary "Attention Level" index (Kanto region, preliminary figures), which surveys program and commercial viewing habits in 2,000 households in the Kanto region and 600 households in the Kansai region. A dedicated device equipped with a human recognition sensor constantly measures whether people are looking at the television screen, and calculates the percentage of people in front of the television who were paying close attention to the program.
◇Translation work stalls, Naomi calls for everyone to cooperate.
Following the 22nd episode the previous day, the 23rd episode saw viewership exceeding 70% for a total of 9 minutes out of its 15-minute broadcast time. First, the viewership exceeded 70% for 4 minutes, from 8:02 AM (71.6%) to 8:05 AM (70.9%), immediately after the opening credits when the theme song played. At 8:02 AM and 8:03 AM, both Naomi and Tae were unsure how to translate the word "observation," which appeared repeatedly, causing both pairs to stall their translation work. In the latter half, at 8:04 AM, Mitsu visited Mizuho-ya and asked Usaburo to hire her.
At 8:05 a.m., the scene returns to the nursing school, where Rin suggests that the two groups cooperate to overcome the stagnation in the translation work. Naomi objects, saying, "But then I'll just be doing all the teaching."
◇The role of Tamaki is passed on to a new child actor, captivating everyone's attention.
After that, the percentage dropped slightly to the high 60s in the middle of the day, but rose again to the 70s from 8:09 AM (72.8%).
The scene immediately preceding 8:08 AM is at the training school, where the dormitory residents, enjoying their Sunday off, go out. The only ones left are Rin, Naomi, and Kudo Tome (played by Harashima Rin), who is from Aomori Prefecture. Rin invites the two to come to her house, but Naomi refuses. When Tome tries to persuade her to come along, Naomi sarcastically says, "Why don't you learn at least one English word before you try to learn the streets of Tokyo?" Hearing this, Rin retorts, "Naomi, you're a liar," and "You're a liar and ugly."
Following that shocking statement, the conversation continued at around 8:09 AM (72.8%). When Rin suggested that Naomi share her English knowledge with everyone, Naomi retorted, "Isn't it greedy for people to beg for the knowledge I've worked so hard to acquire just to survive?" She criticized Rin's attitude, calling her a "good girl." This argument between Rin and Naomi continued until around 8:10 AM (73.1%).
In the end, Tome stays alone in the dormitory, while Rin and Naomi go out. It is around 8:11 AM (74.7%) that Naomi, having left the dormitory, recalls the day she cut her own hair. Naomi, having learned that the Navy Lieutenant Kohinata, whom she was considering marrying, was actually the con artist Kanta (Fujiwara Kisetsu), is so shocked that she cuts her own hair with scissors in the church. Seeing this, Pastor Yoshie (Harada Taizo) bursts into tears, saying, "Your hair is so beautiful...", and trims the hair at the back of Naomi's head. Yoshie's tears are nothing new, but they were particularly fitting in this scene.
The level of attention gradually increased, reaching its highest point of the day at 76.8% at 8:12 AM. This was the scene where Rin returns home after a long absence and meets Tamaki.
When Rin returned home, Tamaki ran over to her in great delight and presented her with two origami cranes with their wings joined together, saying, "Here, take this." Tamaki explained, "This one's for Mama, and this one's for me," to which Rin replied, "Thank you!"
Ema-chan, who took over the role from Ruka Miyajima, made her first appearance as Tamaki. She is such a similar child actress that it's hard to believe it's a different person playing the role, and you can really feel how much she's grown up. Her clear delivery of lines and her cuteness seem to have brought her to the peak of attention. (Text by Hiroki Sasamoto/MANTANWEB)
