On April 28th, celebrity Allen attended the Japan premiere screening of the film "Dangerous Animals" (directed by Sean Byrne, opening May 8th) in Tokyo. In keeping with the film's theme, she revealed a recent "dangerous experience" that had befallen her.
When asked by the host, "What's your most dangerous experience?", Mr. Allen recalled an episode where he traveled from Tokyo to the Dobuita-dori shopping street in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, by taxi, a round trip that cost 80,000 yen.
After parting ways with her friend, Ms. Allen took a taxi home alone, and she revealed, "At first it was normal, but the highway to Tokyo has four lanes, and the driver kept crossing lanes... The speed went from 40 km/h to 70 km/h on the highway... I was drunk and wanted to sleep, but I woke up because I thought something was wrong. And then I realized (the driver) was asleep!" This revelation elicited screams from the audience.
Mr. Allen recalled, "It takes an hour from there to Tokyo. I was subjected to an hour-long dangerous drive by an 80-year-old driver! I honestly felt my life was in danger. I angrily told him, 'Hold the steering wheel properly with both hands.' I was so scared I couldn't sleep even though I wanted to. He was sleeping, though. I thought, 'It's the other way around!' (laughs). So, as soon as I got out of the taxi, I went to the office and said, 'I think that person is going to cause a very serious accident.'"
The film is a psychological thriller that premiered at the Directors' Fortnight of the 78th Cannes International Film Festival and became a hot topic as "the first shark movie at the Cannes Film Festival." It depicts a female surfer searching for a way to escape a psychopathic captain and a dangerous shark.
