It has been announced that "Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō," the bestselling novel by Noboru Mikami that has been adapted into a TV drama and a live-action film, will be made into a TV anime in 2027. Mamoru Kanbe will direct, and CloverWorks will produce the animation. It has also been announced that Riko Akechi will play the role of Shiori Shinokawa and Shunsuke Takeuchi will play the role of Daisuke Goura, and a teaser visual depicting the protagonist, Shiori Shinokawa, reading in the antique bookstore, as well as a teaser PV consisting of footage from the anime itself, have been released.
The series is a mystery about Shiori Shinokawa, the extremely shy owner of Biblia Koshodo, a secluded used bookstore in a corner of Kamakura, and Daisuke Goura, who has a "fear of printed words," as they unravel incidents and mysteries related to old books. Published by MediaWorks Bunko (KADOKAWA), the series has sold over 8.5 million copies. A television drama starring Ayame Goriki aired from January to March 2013, and a live-action film starring Haru Kuroki and Shuhei Nomura was released in November 2018.

◇Comment from the original author, Noboru Mikami
As the original author, media adaptations are a welcome thing, and I was honored when my work was adapted into a drama and a movie. Ideally, I would have liked to see it as a TV anime, but I continued writing the original work with the feeling that it would only happen if good fortune piled up. I am overwhelmed with emotion that this wish has now become a reality. The staff and cast have all approached the original work with sincerity, and as the original author, I feel at ease leaving it in their hands. I am really looking forward to it airing.
◇Comment from the original illustrator, Hagu Koshima
Sometimes we can sense smells and atmospheres from visual information, and that was certainly the case with the teaser PV for the TV anime "Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō." Watching it reminded me of Kita-Kamakura, which I visited for research. It was a hot day before the rainy season began. As a viewer, I'm really looking forward to watching the full series!
◇Comments from manager Mamoru Kanbe
My hobby is photography. I like photography itself, but I also like the equipment. I think that, in terms of the essence of photography, the equipment doesn't really matter, but it feels good to use equipment that you like. After doing it for many years, I've noticed things like, "This lens produces interesting images." I'm looking for lenses that are dark or blurry around the edges, lenses that don't capture the image perfectly. But that's what makes it fun. It might not be understood by others, but I think people with the same hobby and taste will smile and say, "Yeah, that's great."
◇Comment from Assistant Director Ayako Kurata
I am honored to be involved in the production of "Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō"! I think it's a work that will make you feel like time is passing by slowly, yet also quickly. Please relax and wait until it airs!
◇Comment from series composition writer Toshiya Ohno
I knew the title of "Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō" (The Case Files of the Biblia Antiquarian Bookshop), but I had never actually read it. When I was asked to write the script and read it, I felt not only nostalgia, but also a sense of sadness, as if this atmosphere no longer existed anywhere. I approached this project with the desire to permanently preserve the purity, elegance, thoughtfulness, and the madness lurking beneath them in this anime. I believe that it will appear fresh and resonate deeply, especially in these harsh times. Please look forward to it.
◇Comment from Jun Nakai, character designer and chief animation director
I was drawn to Shiori's profile in the original illustration, which is how I discovered this work. I'm looking forward to bringing Shiori to life in animation. Together with the staff, I want to carefully portray the characters of this work, while cherishing the acting and expressions that are unique to animation. I hope to enjoy the process, so I appreciate your support.
◇Comment from composer Takahiro Obata
This is my fourth project working with Director Kambe, and I am very pleased to be able to work with such a wonderful staff and cast once again. I composed the music while sharing various ideas with Director Kambe about how to express the world of "Biblia Koshodō no Jiken Techō" through sound. I hope you will pay attention to the music as well.
◇Comment from Riko Akechi, who plays the role of Shiori Shinokawa
I will never forget my first encounter with Shiori-san; it was when I was in the first year of junior high school. Looking to the right from the entrance of the library, there was a rotating bookshelf filled with paperback books. I still remember being captivated by the beautiful profile of a woman I saw through the glass. I felt incredibly fortunate when I was even offered the audition, so the unexpected news of my acceptance was truly a major event for me. I am truly proud to be a part of this work. I will do my utmost, so I hope you will support me.
◇Comment from Shunsuke Takeuchi, who plays the role of Daisuke Itsura
This series, which has been adapted into various media, has finally been made into an anime! The characters are very realistic, and you get drawn into its world. I also really enjoy reading old books, so when I hear Shiori's thoughts about books, it makes me want to read some books myself for a while. So, with her natural physique and sincerity, go, Daisuke!
