Actor Hiroshi Katsuno will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), airing on April 6th at 1 PM. He is 76 years old and has been married to talent Cathy Nakajima for 47 years.
While attending Aoyama Gakuin University, he was invited to join a theater troupe, but he had no intention of becoming an actor and often skipped acting lessons by feigning illness. It was during this time that he auditioned for the police drama "Taiyo ni Hoero!" after being told he would get to meet Yujiro Ishihara, and he passed, making his acting debut.
He played a Texas detective, but his Kumamoto accent hadn't faded, and he lacked the fundamentals of acting, resulting in constant retakes on set. He even overslept and was three hours late, prompting the staff to tell him, "Go see Yujiro Ishihara first." 52 years later, he reveals these untold stories.
