An event for the new theatrical anime film "Sergeant Sgt. Frog Revives and Immediately Faces the Crisis of Earth's Destruction!", based on the popular manga by Mine Sgt. Frog , was held on March 29th at "AnimeJapan 2026" at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto Ward, Tokyo). Ano-chan, also known as Ano, who is the publicity ambassador for the anime's 20th anniversary project and is in charge of the opening theme (OP) "Keroro! March Returns Again", made an appearance.
Ano-san, who sings the opening theme with Soshina-san of the comedy duo "Shimofuri Myojo," said of the recording, "For me, it's a song that I'm very familiar with, a song I really love and often hum along to, so the recording went very smoothly. I sing it all the time, so it went well, and Soshina-san also sang it much better than I expected," praising Soshina-san.
The event featured Kumiko Watanabe, who voices Sgt. Frog, Etsuko Kozakura, who voices Private Tamama, and director Yuichi Fukuda.
Director Fukuda, who also wrote the script for the new theatrical film, commented, "I watched the entire film with sound yesterday, and it was incredibly entertaining. The nearly two hours flew by. It's the kind of movie that keeps you excited the whole time, so I was surprised when it was over."
The new animated film will be directed and written by Fukuda, known for his work on the drama series "Yusha Yoshihiko" and the film series "Gintama." Fumitoshi Oizaki, who was in charge of character design for the TV series, will direct the film, and Satoshi Koike, who also worked on the TV series, will be in charge of character design. BN Pictures will produce the animation. It will be released on June 26th.
"Sgt. Frog. Frog" is a gag manga depicting the daily life of Keroro, an alien based on a frog who aims to invade Earth, as he spends time at the home of a young Earth boy named Fuyuki. The one-shot "Sgt. Frog" was published in "Bessatsu Newtype" (KADOKAWA) in 1998, and the serialization began in "Monthly Shonen Ace" (also KADOKAWA) in 1999. The TV anime aired from April 2004 to March 2011 for about seven years, and the series has been adapted into a wide range of media, including five theatrical anime films.
