It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime " Blue Box Blue Box ," based on the popular manga by Kouji Miura serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will begin airing on the TBS network of 28 stations nationwide every Sunday at 4:30 p.m. starting October 4th. While the first season aired on Thursday nights, the second season will air on Sunday evenings.
Additional cast members have also been announced, with Yoshino Aoyama taking on the role of Yumeka Kido, a new character introduced in the second season. Yumeka Kido is a former teammate of Chinatsu Kano from their mini-basketball days. She has a cynical personality but is blessed with exceptional basketball talent, and was a player that Chinatsu admired. After moving due to family circumstances, she and Chinatsu became estranged.
Aoyama commented, "Even when you know that the opposing side is right, you can feel yourself appearing dark and miserable when illuminated by that dazzling light. Sometimes jealousy and hatred become the driving force that propels you forward. I haven't been alive for very long, but I've experienced these kinds of conflicts many times. I'm truly honored to be able to entrust these feelings, which are difficult to describe, to Yumeka, and to contribute to the richness of this work together with Yumeka. Thank you very much!"
A teaser visual has been released depicting Chinatsu with a gentle smile in front of a fantastical sunset viewed from an observation deck. A teaser PV has also been released, showing how the distance between Taiki Inomata and Chinatsu gradually closes. At the end, a new character is shown uttering ominous words to Chinatsu.
It was also announced that the official web radio show "Hakoradi" will be broadcast on the official "Blue Box" podcast and TMS' official YouTube channel starting at 6:30 PM on April 7th. It will be broadcast once a month until October, and then every other week thereafter.
"Blue Box" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in April 2021. It is a coming Taiki Inomata love story set in Eimei High School, a prestigious junior and senior high school known for its strong sports programs, where Daiki Inomata, a member of the boys' badminton club, falls in love with Chinatsu Kano, a senior member of the girls' basketball club. The manga has been released up to volume 24, with a cumulative circulation of over 9.6 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2024 to March 2025.
