The ninth episode of the TBS Sunday drama "Reboot," starring Ryohei Suzuki, aired on March 22nd (Sundays at 9 PM). The conversation between Riku Hayase (Suzuki) and his wife Natsumi (Erika Toda) became a hot topic on social media, with viewers saying things like "It really touched me" and "I cried."
◇The following contains spoilers.
Hayase narrowly prevents Takumi (Hiroshi Yazaki) from being taken hostage by Goroku (Yukiya Kitamura). He then reveals his true identity to Takumi and his mother, Yoshiko (Mieko Harada).
Afterward, Hayase went to the car where Natsumi was waiting and told her what had happened. Regarding Takumi's reaction to learning that his father was living as "Gido," he reported, "He was so surprised he froze. Like when he ate ice cream for the first time."
A smile involuntarily spread across Natsumi's face as she replied, "And then there was the cotton candy," and the couple laughed together. Hayase reminisced fondly, "That was so cute. He had his eyes wide open the whole time."
Then, with a serious expression, Hayase said, "I haven't told them about Natsumi," to which Natsumi nodded and murmured resolutely, "I still think I shouldn't go back. I don't want to destroy that family." However, Hayase firmly stated, "You're part of that family too, aren't you?"
Although their appearances had changed, many viewers were moved by the sight of the couple talking, and social media was abuzz with comments such as, "I cried when they said, 'That was so cute,'" "The couple's conversation in the car made me bawl," "It was touching to see the two of them, who were forced to reboot against their will, interacting as a couple," "Even though they were both going through a tough time after being rebooted, it was nice to see their smiles when they instantly started talking about memories of their child," and "Their conversation after realizing they were the Hayase couple was so cute. I hope they find happiness."
