It has been announced that M・A・O will be appearing as a voice actress in Season 3 of the TV anime "Grand Blue Dreaming," which is based on the manga serialized in "good! Afternoon" (Kodansha). M・A・O will play Karina, a German woman who is a member of an otaku club. A teaser PV depicting the "Grand Blue Dreaming" life in the tropical paradise of Palau has also been released.
M.A.O. commented, "It was a really fun recording session in a friendly atmosphere where there was always laughter! Karina is a very charming character with a strong impact due to the contrast between her outward appearance and her inner self. I did my best to portray the passion that overflows from her earnest and gentle demeanor, so I hope you will enjoy that contrast! Thank you very much!!"
"Grand Blue Dreaming" is based on a manga by Kenji Inoue, known for "Baka and Test and Summoning Beasts," with illustrations by Kimitake Yoshioka. The story follows Iori Kitahara, who moves in with his uncle by the sea when he goes to university, and meets passionate men who dedicate their youth to scuba diving and his beautiful cousin who has grown into a young woman. The comics have sold over 10 million copies in total. In Season 3, the diving shop Dolphin opens a branch in Palau, but they are short-staffed, and Nanaka asks Iori to come and help out.
The TV anime's first season aired from July to September 2018, and season 2 aired from July to September 2025. A live-action film starring actors Ryo Ryusei and Atsuhiro Inukai was released in August 2020, which also garnered attention. Season 3 will air from July on TOKYO MX, BS11, and MBS.
