" Asadora ni Tsubasa" (The Tiger and Her Wings ), the NHK morning drama series for the first half of 2024 starring Sairi Ito, will have a spin-off drama focusing on the characters Yone Yamada ( Shiori Doi) and Taichi Todoroki (Junki Tozuka), titled "Yamada Todoroki Law Office," which will air on NHK General on March 20th at 9:45 PM.
"Tora ni Tsubasa"(The Tiger and Her Wings) is an original story based on Yoshiko Mitsubuchi (1914-1984), Japan's first female lawyer who later served as a judge, with Ito playing the heroine, Torako Inozume.
"Yamada Todoroki Law Office" depicts the untold story of how Torako's best friend, Yone, and Todoroki established the Yamada Todoroki Law Office. It incorporates plenty of Yone and Todoroki's backstory and portrays the world of "The Tiger and Her Wings" from a lawyer's perspective.
◇Story
Yone Yamada was transporting Masuno (Yusuke Hirayama), the owner of Cafe Toudai, who had been critically injured in an air raid, on a handcart. In Ueno, a city devastated by defeat and rife with disorder and discrimination, the law she had learned seemed powerless, and Yone's heart gradually grew hardened. She was reunited with her estranged sister, Natsu (Sayaka Akimoto), but their hearts remained at odds. Then Natsu was attacked by senseless violence. Yone pursued the culprit, but Masuno also became entangled in the machinations of forces controlling the black market, and the truth was buried in darkness. In despair, Yone, driven by anger, wrote Article 14 of the Constitution, which she had seen in the newspaper, on the wall. Eventually, after reuniting with Taichi Todoroki, Yone opened a law firm and began to take on cases involving people who were cornered.
