It has been announced that the "Complete Yuasa Masaaki Sketchbook for Animation Projects," a "phantom sketchbook" by director Masaaki Yuasa, known for anime such as "Inu-Oh," "Lu Over the Wall," and "Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! Eizouken!", will be republished. The book was published by Asuka Shinsha in 2014 and will be released by Pie International on March 19th.
Approximately 900 color sketches, including precious character designs and world settings drawn over a period of more than 20 years since his twenties before his directorial debut, for works such as "Crayon Shin-chan Chibi Maruko-chan : My Favorite Song," "Nekojiru Kusa," "Mind Game," "Kemonozume," "Dreaming Machine," "Kaiba," "The Tatami Galaxy," and "Kick Heart," will be published along with comments.
Director Yuasa commented, "I didn't draw these to show to others, so it's embarrassing, and I'm not as good as him, but I've gotten used to it. I can't write properly, but if I add color, it becomes clear. It's a record of my engrossment. Congratulations on the republication!"
The reprint edition will come with a special first-run bonus of an original illustration card with a comment from Director Yuasa.
