"Drama 1 Week" brings you the latest drama news from the past week. This week (February 14-20) featured the release of the main visual for the NHK morning drama "Kaze, Kaoru" (Wind, Fragrance), which will air in the first half of 2026, and Marsh Aya's first appearance on the TBS Sunday Theatre. On February 14th, it was revealed that Miyadate Ryota of Snow Man will be starring in the drama series "If I Fall in Love with a Terminator" (TV Asahi, Saturdays at 11pm), which begins on April 4th. This will be Miyadate's first time starring in a drama series. The drama is a sci-fi romantic comedy that depicts the love story between Tokizawa Eta (Miyadate), an android who comes from 400 years in the future to protect the heroine, who is being targeted by someone, and Kamio Kurumi (Usuda Asami), a woman in her 40s who works at a publishing company. Regarding his role, Miyadate said, "I pay attention to my mannerisms, such as how far I extend my arms when I walk and the angle at which I step."
On the 14th, it was announced that episodes 1 to 5 of NHK's "Drama 10: The Uncertain Courtroom of Themis" (General TV, Tuesdays at 10pm), starring Matsuyama Kenichi, will be rebroadcast on February 23rd. The drama is on a two-week hiatus due to the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The first episode will be rebroadcast from 3:05pm on the 23rd, with episodes 2 to 5 airing consecutively from 12:35am on the same day. "The Uncertain Courtroom of Themis" is based on a unique legal mystery by Naoshima Sho. It is a courtroom drama about a judge (played by Matsuyama) with a developmental disorder who takes on difficult cases while struggling with his own unique characteristics.
On the 16th, it was revealed that Nakagawa Daisuke will be starring in his first TV drama series, "Travel, Me and Cats" (TV Tokyo), which will begin airing in March. The unusual travel drama follows Nekogami Mamoru (played by Nakagawa), a travel writer who travels around the country with a camera. He uses his mysterious ability to talk to cats to explore the city while interviewing local cats about delicious food and famous places. Nakagawa commented, "Acting with a wayward cat can sometimes be difficult, but when you speak to them from your heart, they respond from their heart. There were many moments like that. I hope you'll check out the scenes that were captured on camera." The four-episode series will air every Thursday at 12:30 a.m. starting March 5th.
On the 17th, it was revealed that Marsh Aya will be making a guest appearance in the fifth episode (airing February 22nd) of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Reboot" (Sunday 9 PM), starring Suzuki Ryohei. This will be Marsh's first time appearing in a Sunday Theatre drama, where she will play Aoi, an employee of the nonprofit organization "Shelter." Marsh said of the drama, "From the first episode onwards, there were many developments that really drew me in, and as the story progressed, the relationships between people became increasingly complex, with betrayals occurring along the way, making it a work that was very worthwhile to contemplate. The setting of rebooting and living a completely different character's life was also fresh, and as I read the script, I was trying to organize my thoughts as I went along, and I was constantly excited to see what would happen next."
On the 17th, the main visual for the NHK morning drama "Kaze, Kaoru," starring Ai Mikami and Juri Uesaka, which will air in the first half of 2026 on March 30th, was released. The captivating visual features Mikami's Rin and Uesaka's Naomi, both dressed in pure white nurse uniforms, looking lively and energetic. Eriko Ota, who was in charge of the design, commented, "The image of the two characters taking off their kimonos and stepping out into pure white nurse uniforms evokes a story of women at the time shedding the old values and stereotypes they carried and carving out a new path. I hope that the hopeful and lively figures of Rin and Naomi will encourage viewers to take on a new path."
On the 17th, it was announced that the drama "Stove League," starring Kazuya Kamenashi, will be broadcast and streamed in its entirety on Lemino and WOWOW starting March 28th. New cast members were also announced. The team management staff surrounding Sakurazaki, played by Kamenashi, will be played by Shono Hayama, Yoshinori Kajiwara, Shinji Rokkaku, Yusaku Mori, Haruki Nakagawa, Nobuko Ito, and Munenori Nagano. Itsuji Itao will play the Dreams' manager, Katsumi Nishida, while the players will be played by Ryo Katsuji, Hajime Yoshihisa, Kyosuke Tani, Yuki Sato, and, joining from Korea, Cha Jun-ho and Arata Horii. Kotaro Yoshida will play Mitsuo Negishi, chairman of the Yaoshima Group, the company that owns the Dreams, and Junpei Yasui will play the chairman's son, Ryuta Negishi.
On the 18th, it was revealed that Nanoka Hara will be starring in the April TV Tokyo drama series "Lunashii" (Thursdays at 12:30 AM). This live-action drama is based on the cult-like "believer business manga," and Hara plays Goda Luna, a high school girl who lives as the "child of the fire god." Luna runs an acupuncture clinic with her grandmother, selling "self-realization" products at her believer business using moxa powder infused with her own blood. One day, Luna falls in love with Kensho, a popular boy at school who saves her from bullying. However, love is not permitted for a "child of god." Unable to suppress her feelings, Luna confesses her feelings to Kensho, but...
