It has been announced that the latest film in the popular anime series "Crayon Shin-chan," the 33rd film in the series, "Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Strange and Mysterious! My Yokai Vacation," will be released on July 31st. The latest film is set in "Yokai Land," and a new trailer featuring amusing yokai has been released on YouTube. A teaser visual that hints at an encounter between Shinnosuke and the yokai has also been released. The visual is accompanied by the tagline, "Nanaka, Yokai?"
The trailer begins with the Nohara family relaxing at Hiroshi's parents' house during their summer vacation. While eating watermelon on the veranda, Shinnosuke and his friends listen to his grandfather Ginnosuke say, "When I think of summer, stories about monsters are the perfect fit." Then, they receive a flyer for Haunted Village, and Shinnosuke's excitement reaches its peak when he sees the words "Eat Chocobi!" Following the flyer, they head deep into the mountains, far from civilization, only to find it is the entrance to a land of monsters. The Nohara family gets lost in a world inhabited by monsters, and hears a terrifying rumor that humans who get lost in the land of monsters will be transformed into monsters and lose their memories. The trailer depicts the beginning of a mysterious summer adventure where they will encounter delightful monsters.
It was also announced that advance tickets with special bonuses will go on sale on February 27th. Those who purchase advance tickets for the latest film at theaters nationwide will receive a "Jumping Tengu Shin-chan" gift, limited to a total of 75,000 people nationwide. The strap features a design of Shinnosuke in his Tengu costume.
In the latest film, the Nohara family, who were supposed to go to Hiroshi's hometown of Akita to see the Omagari Fireworks Festival, a summer tradition in Akita Prefecture, end up getting lost in the land of monsters and embarking on an unpredictable adventure. Masaki Watanabe, who has been directing the TV anime series since 2022 and storyboarding and directing parts of the "Crayon Shin-chan Movie" series since 2024, will be directing the film series for the first time. Yoshiko Nakamura, who has worked on the screenplay for the TV series, will be in charge of the script.
The first film in the Crayon Shin-chan series, Crayon Shin-chan: Action Kamen vs. the High-Heeled Demon King, was released in 1993. The first full-length 3DCG animation in the series' history, New Dimension! Crayon Shin-chan: The Movie: Psychic Battle - Tobe Tobe Hand-Rolled Sushi, was released in 2023 and became a hot topic. Crayon Shin-chan: Our Dinosaur Diary (directed by Shinobu Sasaki), released in 2024, grossed over 2.5 billion yen, breaking the record for the highest box office revenue in the series' history.
