It has been announced that Minamino Umifu's popular light novel "The Savage Lady Nia Liston: The Magnificent Unrivaled Record of the God-Slaying Warrior Who Reincarnated as a Sickly Young Lady," which is available on the novel submission site "Shosetsuka ni Naro a Novelist," will be adapted into a TV anime and will begin airing in October. The story tells of a great hero who once achieved god-slaying but is reincarnated as a sickly aristocratic young lady, and it has also been announced that Honoka Inoue will play Nia Liston, the daughter of the Liston family.
The light novel, written by Minamino Umikaze and illustrated by Katana Kanata and Magnet, has a total of approximately 75 million page views on "Shosetsuka ni Naro." A great hero who once achieved the feat of killing a god is reincarnated as a beautiful but sickly young lady named Nia Liston, who continues her second life by seeking out strong opponents and throws herself into battle. The story depicts the magnificent battles of this most powerful young lady, who will eventually be known as the "Violent Young Lady." The book has been published by HJ Bunko (Hobby Japan) and has also been adapted into a comic. The series has sold over 1.8 million copies.
The anime will be directed by Nakanishi Motoki, with series composition by Ichikawa Jyuokuemon, character design by Ito Yuki and Tosaoka Kana, music by Endo Naoki, and sound direction by Kikuta Hiromi. It will be produced by KONAMI animation. A teaser visual and promotional video featuring Nia Liston have been released.
Original author Minamino Umikaze commented, "I have now confirmed the following hypothesis: that strong little girls are popular. Another new theory has been born in this world. The violent young lady Nia Liston is being made into an anime. Yay! That little girl moves so smoothly! I'm sure there are many gentlemen and ladies who think the same. You're right. She moves smoothly. If it's not smooth, don't watch it. It's not worth watching. Some people might think that way, but she moves. Smoothly. Slimy, but that might be okay. So please watch it with peace of mind. But seriously. It's all thanks to our readers and everyone involved that the anime adaptation was decided. I'm so grateful. Thank you so much."
Character designer Katana Kanata said, "Congratulations on the anime adaptation! I can feel the passion of everyone involved in the production by watching the process of the art being created and observing the dubbing...! Near is pretty yet incredibly strong, and I can't wait to see her exploits in the Magic Crystal Board, or rather the anime!"
Inoue, who plays Nia Liston, said of the appeal of the work, "Of course the story is interesting! Nia is very pretty and cute, yet incredibly strong; the contrast is irresistible. She may not be a protagonist that everyone can sympathize with, but when she's on the battlefield, when she's spending time with everyone at the academy, when she's with her maid Rhinokis, she can be selfish in many different ways, and conversely, she can also be rational...I think the world surrounding Nia, who shows many different sides to her, is very fascinating!"
Regarding playing Nia Liston, she said, "When I play Nia, I am overwhelmed by the words and actions that I don't get in my everyday life, and I often find it difficult! Among those, I am conscious of the 'ki' (spirit) to live in each and every aspect as Nia herself, such as polite language, the calm yet powerful voice, and the transitions between monologues and on-screen lines."
