The first episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Reboot" (Sundays at 9pm) starring Suzuki Ryohei was broadcast on January 18th. The scene in which pastry chef Hayase Riku (Matsuyama Kenichi), who is being pursued by the police, breaks up with his son Takumi (Yazaki Akira) brought tears to viewers' eyes, with some saying, "The acting of the child actor and Matsuyama Kenichi was just too good."

Two and a half years ago, Hayase's wife, Natsumi (Yamaguchi Sayaka), disappeared without warning. Hayase, his mother Yoshiko (Harada Mieko), and Takumi had been waiting for her return, but their hopes were suddenly dashed. A skeletal body was discovered in the mountains, and an autopsy confirmed that it was Natsumi's.
To make matters worse, Hayase is suspected of murdering his wife. While being pursued by the police, he manages to call Takumi with the help of Ichika (Toda Erika).
Hayase hugged Takumi tightly and explained that he had not murdered Natsumi, and that if he went to the police now, they would never see each other again. "Your only choice is to find the culprit who killed your mother. So, Dad, I'll be gone for a while," he explained.
He then asked for Hayase's agreement, saying, "This will cause a lot of pain for Takumi and Grandma, but I promise I will catch the person who killed your mother." Takumi cried, "No! Don't go!" but Hayase, with tears in his eyes, shook his head.
"I don't want my dad to disappear either..."
Hayase hugged Takumi tightly as he was shedding tears, and shook him off, saying, "I'm sorry. I'll definitely come back."
On social media, the show was a hot topic, with comments such as "The separation between parent and child was so sad I actually cried," "It made me cry from the first episode - the separation between parent and child was so painful," "The child actor's performance when the parent and child were saying goodbye was so good I got a little teary-eyed," "The child actor was amazing," "The child actor in the reboot was so good I was crying along with him," and "The child actor in the reboot is so handsome."
The drama is a suspense story about Hayase Riku, who is framed for the murder of his wife, abandoning his family and past to reboot himself as a corrupt detective, Gido, and pursue the real culprit. The script is written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who has worked on many hit Sunday Theatre dramas such as "Grand Maison Tokyo," "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room," and "My Family."
