Actor Masaki Okada recently attended the production announcement for the TBS Friday drama "Takusari Brothers" (Fridays at 10pm), which he will star in from April. This is Okada's first lead role in a TBS drama, and he will be playing the role of brothers with Shota Sometani. He spoke about his enthusiasm for the series and what he would like viewers to pay attention to.
The drama follows the "Tasakuri Brothers," consisting of the older brother, detective Tasakuri Makoto (Okada), and the younger brother, coroner Tasakuri Minoru (Sometani), as they pursue the heinous crimes that occur every day and the true culprit behind the murder of their parents 31 years ago, which expired two days before the statute of limitations was originally set to expire.
When asked by the station's MC, announcer Erika Yamamoto, about his enthusiasm for playing the lead role, Okada replied, "It's not something you get to do very often, so I'm always on set filming without getting too worked up, just trying to make something good. It's not like I'm the main character or anything, but rather I'm filming with the focus on how the story will appear to the audience, how they will watch it, and how it will be conveyed to them after they've finished watching it."
She then prefaced her statement by saying, "It couldn't be more luxurious," and smiled as she said, "We've been filming for about three months now, and I'm really enjoying every day. I hope everyone will look forward to this drama."
When asked about the highlights of the drama, Okada said, "There are many, but as an older brother, what I think about most is my younger brother."
"The character Minoru, played by Sometani Shota, is really cute and clumsy... He's a character who is cold on the outside but hot and passionate on the inside, so when viewers feel Minoru's passionate feelings, the drama is filled with moments that will definitely hit home, and just watching as an older brother, it's a bit comforting. The younger brother is really the focus of this drama!" he said emphatically.
Sometani responded, "That's definitely from an older brother's perspective," to which Okada replied, "That's true. His private life is getting all mixed up, to the point where I almost said, 'I'm Sometani's older brother.'"
