Actor Masaki Okada recently attended the production announcement for the TBS Friday drama "Takusari Brothers" (Fridays at 10pm), in which he will star. In reference to the content of the drama, he revealed "things I can talk about now that the statute of limitations has expired."
The drama follows the "Tasakuri Brothers," consisting of the older brother, detective Tasakuri Makoto (Okada), and the younger brother, coroner Tasakuri Minoru (Sometani Shota), as they pursue the heinous crimes that occur every day and the true culprit behind the murder of their parents 31 years ago, which expired two days before the statute of limitations was originally set to expire.
When asked what he can say now that the statute of limitations has passed, Okada looked back on the filming of a drama about 20 years ago and replied, "I was doing a school drama with Sometani-kun, and we were filming in a studio. There were other teams filming in the studio, including dramas from other stations, and the lunch boxes in the studio next door were clearly more luxurious. It was like night and day compared to our team. There was so much meat..."
"The filming for the drama is long, so while I was watching, I couldn't help but reach for the lunch (from the studio next door). After everyone had eaten, before they had cleaned up, there was an extra lunch, so I thought, 'I guess I can eat this.'" he confessed. "From the day I ate it, I watched that drama every week. I'm really sorry," he apologized, and said, "Thanks to that lunch, I'm still able to work as an actor today," drawing laughter from the audience.
Meanwhile, co-star Sometani began by saying, "I think the statute of limitations has passed now that I can move around normally..." and continued, "After filming for 2025 was all over, I wasn't getting enough exercise so I did some push-ups at home. But then my back snapped...I just collapsed and couldn't move. Apparently there's something called a slipped disc, and it was the first time in my life that I'd ever slipped one. I couldn't even roll over from my stomach."
"I may never be able to return (to filming). Sorry, I was thinking of the 'Takusari Brothers'. I endured the pain and after about 15 minutes I was able to stand up," he revealed, to which Okada retorted, "What statute of limitations is that?"
At the production announcement, the station's announcer Erika Yamamoto served as MC.
