It has been announced that the new TV anime "Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter," based on the popular light novel "Shosetsuka ni Naro of a Bookworm: I'll Do Anything to Become a Librarian," which is published on the novel submission site "Let's Become a Novelist," will be broadcast nationwide on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV every Saturday at 5:30 pm starting April 4th. It will be broadcast over two consecutive seasons. It will also be broadcast on TOKYO MX every Monday at 9:25 pm starting April 6th.
A key visual featuring the main characters, Rosemyne and Ferdinand, has been released. The visual is based on one of the iconic scenes from "Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter," the Night in Schuzeria, and depicts Rosemyne with a determined expression on her face, while Ferdinand appears to be watching over her. The accompanying copy reads, "Even if we're far apart, we're living the same story (page)."
The PV was also released on YouTube, showcasing the beautiful world of Ehrenfest, the power of magic, Rozemyne's passion for books, and her feelings for her family. Characters who play an active role alongside Rozemyne, including Ferdinand, also made an appearance. It was also announced that the female vocal unit Little Glee Monster will be performing the opening theme "Pages," and the song was unveiled in the PV. Little Glee Monster commented, "We are very happy to be a part of the story, Ascendance of a Bookworm!"
Regarding the released key visual and the PV, original author Kazuki Miya commented, "I think this key visual really shows the relationship between the two characters. And the catchphrase is, 'Even if we're apart, we're living the same story (page)'! Don't you think that's incredibly cool?" "The opening theme song is sung by Little Glee Monster, affectionately known as LitGre!" "Both the song and the animation are great, so please look forward to it." "Personally, I really love the part at the end of the PV where Lesser flies off to the tune of 'Fly!'"
Director Iwasaki Yoshiaki said, "There is pressure in adapting such a hugely popular work into a film, but the entire staff is working hard every day to create a work that will meet everyone's expectations. This is a work that is full of charm, and I hope you will enjoy watching it."
Minowa Aiko, who is in charge of character design, said, "We put our heart and soul into creating each and every cut so that the world view of Ascendance of a Bookworm and the charm of the characters can be conveyed better. We also paid particular attention to the difference between the expressions that Rozemyne shows to her family and friends in the downtown area and the expressions she shows as an aristocrat, so please pay attention to that."
The series is a light novel written by Kazuki and illustrated by Shiina Yu. It follows Urano Motosu, a girl living in modern Japan, who dies on the day she secures her dream job at a library. She regains consciousness as Myne, a young girl in another world ruled by magical aristocrats, and struggles to find a book. The first season of the anime aired from October to December 2019, the second from April to June 2020, and the third from April to June 2022.
"Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter" will be produced by WIT STUDIO, the studio behind "SPY x FAMILY" and "Attack on Titan Season 3."Show Hayami as Ferdinand.
