An advance screening of the TV anime "Tune In to the Midnight Heart," based on the romantic comedy manga by Igarashi Masakuni currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), was held in Tokyo on January 4th. Voice actors Rikuya Yasuda, Momoko Seto, Rumi Okubo, Sayumi Suzushiro, and Miku Ito gathered together to talk about what went on behind the scenes during the recording and to show off their calligraphy.
Suzuyo, who plays VTuber Kirino Iko, said there were some difficult moments, saying, "In the original work, the character is described as 'whispering,' and she seems cool and quiet, but she actually has a surprising range of emotions, so it was difficult to get the balance right." Ito, who plays Ugetsu Shinobu, who aspires to be an announcer, said, "As a professional voice actor, I did my best to pronounce the scene where I stumble over my announcement."
Seto, who plays Inohana Rikka, who aspires to be a singer, said, "It was extremely difficult. Seto Momoko and Rikka are complete opposites. There are some provocative lines, but I was conscious of keeping it natural rather than being too sexy." Okubo, who plays Himegawa Nene, who aspires to be a voice actress, said, "It's a tsundere that has been passed down since ancient times. She's very sharp in her comments. She also has some long-winded comments. I made sure to pay attention to that."
It was said that this day marked the first day of work for everyone, and they all tried their hand at calligraphy.
Seto said, "Forever Daikichi. I haven't been able to get Daikichi for the past few years," Okubo said, "Voice. I want to take care of my voice as much as possible," Suzuyo said, "Exploration. Last year I thought about who I am and realized I don't know. I want to pursue many different things," and Ito said, "Drink lots of water. I want to be conscious of health and beauty," talking about their aspirations for 2026. Yasuda, who plays Yamabuki Arisu, declared, "I'm done with giving up after three days!!!"
"Tune In to the Midnight Heart" is a manga by Igarashi, who is known for works such as "Senryu Girl," which was also adapted into a TV anime, and began serialization in the magazine in September 2023. It is a romantic comedy about Yamabuki Arisu, a second-year high school student searching for a streamer named Apollo, whose face and real name she does not know, and who meets four beautiful girls in the broadcasting club of the high school she is attending, all of whom dream of working in a voice-related job. It will begin airing on January 6th in the new anime slot "Kaanibal!!" on Kansai TV and Fuji TV at 11pm on Tuesdays.
