Singer and actor Masaharu Fukuyama attended the "Last Man" red carpet ceremony and world premiere, held in Shinjuku, Tokyo on December 18th, to commemorate the film "Last Man -FIRST LOVE-" (directed by Shunichi Hirano, released December 24th) and the all-new special drama "Last Man -The Blind Investigator- FAKE/TRUTH" (TBS, December 28th at 9pm). When the star-studded cast appeared on the outdoor red carpet, the audience erupted in cheers.
In addition to Fukuyama, the event was attended by his co-stars Oizumi Yo, Nagase Ren, Mio Imada, Kimura Tae, and Yoshida Yo, as well as Wakana Matsumoto, Kotaro Yoshida, and Snow Man's Koji Mukai, who will appear in the special drama, Rui Tsukishima and Kanichiro, who will appear in the film, and director Hirano, who directed both the film and the drama.
At the world premiere stage greeting, the film's theme song "Jupiter feat. Inaba Koshi" was played at the beginning, and Fukuyama said, "Appearing with this theme song from The Last Man, I realized that this movie is finally starting." Regarding the offer to Inaba, he said, "It's half Hiromi Minami (in the role), half Fukuyama. I can only think that the Minami inside me said, 'Let's ask Inaba.'"
Matsumoto, who appeared in the special drama, looked back on the filming and recalled how Oizumi came to Midoriyama Studio with a gift on a day when he wasn't filming, saying, "When Oizumi came, Fukuyama burst into a big smile and looked very happy. At that moment, I realized that this is how the Last Man team works as a team, so I felt a lot more at ease and enjoyed filming."
"The Last Man: The Blind Investigator" is a TV drama series that aired on TBS in April 2023. Fukuyama plays Hiromi Minami, a blind FBI special agent who is a people-pleaser, and Oizumi Yo plays Shintaro Godo, a detective who will stop at nothing to arrest the culprit, as they team up to tackle difficult cases.
The film follows Minami and Shintaro as they travel to Hokkaido to investigate a certain case, where they meet Nagisa Ivanova (played by Miyazawa), Minami's first love, who is a world-renowned engineer genius who is being pursued by a mysterious organization.
