It has recently been revealed that model and actor Rina Komiyama will be appearing in the drama series "This is the Reserve Self-Defense Force Hero?!" (Chukyo TV/Nippon TV), which will start on January 7th and star Fuma Kikuchi of the popular group "Timelesz," and will be showing off her blonde hair for the first time.
The drama is also attracting attention for being written, directed and written by Koji Kato of the comedy duo "Gokuraku Tombo," and is described as an "unprecedented! Hero x Closed Room Comedy." Despite being a hero drama, it is a closed room dialogue drama with no action. The story follows Nagare (Kikuchi), a part-time worker who is called to the Ministry of Defense, and seven others who each try to save the Earth using their "quirky abilities."
Komiyama is 20 years old and was born on July 14, 2005 in Miyagi Prefecture. She began her entertainment career in 2018 and is currently working as an exclusive model for the women's fashion magazine "non-no" (Shueisha).
Komiyayama, who plays Sapipi/Kanaya Sachiko, one of the seven reserve self-defense heroes, said, "I've always wanted to try my hand at comedy, so when I heard I'd been cast in this film, I was honestly very happy. When I read the script, I found the dialogue fascinating and very entertaining, and there were some scenes that I couldn't imagine, so I was excited by the 'unknown'."
She also said, "I talked with Director Kato about how I was preparing for the role and tried out a lot of new expressions," and added, "Sapipi is a high school student whose hobby is supporting her idols, and who is a bit of a dry person who doesn't trust others due to certain reasons, but I dyed my hair blonde for the first time this time to give her a more gal-like side! I think you'll see a different Komiyama than usual." She added, "The staff and cast were very warm during filming, and I really enjoyed every day. I hope everyone will laugh a lot this winter watching this drama!"
The appearance of Mitsuko Oka in the film was also announced. She will play Fujiwara Etsuko, one of the seven reserve heroes of the Self-Defense Forces.
The drama will be broadcast on Chukyo TV and Nippon TV's "Wednesday Platinum Night" slot (Wednesday midnight 12:24am).
