On Getsuku , it was announced that the title of the new theatrical version of " Sgt. Frog," an anime based on Mine Yoshizaki's popular manga, will be "New Movie Edition ☆ Sgt. Frog Returns and the Earth is in Threat of Destruction!". A teaser visual was also released showing the Keroro Platoon dressed in tuxedos walking down a red carpet laid out in space. The accompanying copy reads, "Gentlemen of Earth (Pekopon), we are back (returned)!" This will be the first theatrical version of the series to be released in approximately 16 years, since the 2010 release of "Super Movie Edition: Sgt. Frog is Born! Ultimate Keroro: Miracle Space-Time Island!!"
A Teaser trailer featuring the Keroro Platoon, including Corporal Giroro, Private Tamama, Sergeant Major Kururu, and Corporal Dororo, as well as Hinata Fuyuki, Hinata Natsumi, Nishizawa Momoka, Angol Mois, Saburo, and Azumaya Koyuki , has been released on YouTube. The trailer begins with a scene reminiscent of the first episode of the TV anime, in which five aliens descend from a UFO in the sky. Sgt. Frog then utters the line, "My fellow Pekopons, I've returned after a long time!" The scene then shifts to Sgt. Frog cleaning the Hinata household where he is staying. Sgt. Frog leads a lazy life, but one day, upon learning that Shibuya is in a state of panic due to a new invader, he is shown fired up and declaring, "Invasion is my exclusive domain! I won't give up!" At the end of the trailer, mysterious text appears on a computer screen.
Nakata Jouji, who plays Corporal Giroro, commented, "The original manga is still being serialized, and thanks to the YouTube channel, everyone who has worked hard on merchandise development, and all the new fans, we are grateful to be able to bring you the movie version. I am looking forward to seeing what kind of chemistry will be created between the reliable staff, including Ozaki (Fumitoshi), Koike (Satoshi), and sound director Tsuruoka (Yota), who have been supporting us for a long time, and the new ' Sgt. Takehito Koyasu, who plays Sergeant Kururu, said, "After 16 years, a new animated film of ' Sgt. Frog' is back! The TV anime was released about 20 years ago, so it's amazing how much time has passed. Takeshi Kusao, who plays Sergeant Dororo, commented, "The new movie version of the anime's 20th anniversary project, Sgt. Frog, is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2026! It's been a while since we've had the Keroro Platoon, so what will it be about? I hope I can make my presence known more than usual (laughs). Please look forward to it."
Saito Chiwa, who plays Hinata Natsumi, said, "I had just made my debut, but every week I was surrounded by those veteran, legendary seniors, and had the opportunity to experience fun, noisy, and happy dubbing sessions during the days of ' Sgt. The third episode of the anime's official radio show " Sgt. Frog no Kero! to Radio," hosted by Kumiko Watanabe, who plays Sgt. Frog, and Etsuko Kozakura , who plays Private Tamama, will be released on the official YouTube channel, "Keroro Channel," from 9 PM on Getsuku. Nakata, who plays Corporal Giroro, will appear as a guest.
The new animated film will be directed and scripted by Yuichi Fukuda, known for the TV drama series "Yoshihiko the Brave" and the film series "Gintama." It will be directed by Fumitoshi Ozaki, who was in charge of character design for the TV series, and character design by Satoshi Koike, who also worked on the TV series. BN Pictures will produce the anime. It is scheduled for release in summer 2026.
"Sgt. Frog" is a comedy manga that depicts the daily life of Keroro, a frog-themed alien who aims to invade Earth, at the home of a boy named Fuyuki on Earth. The one-shot story "Sergeant Keroro" was published in Bessatsu Newtype (KADOKAWA) in 1998, and the serialization began in Monthly Shonen Ace (KADOKAWA) in 1999. The TV anime series aired for about seven years from April 2004 to March 2011, and has been adapted into a wide range of media, including the release of five animated films.
