The Japan finals of the 13th Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC, Gunpla World Cup), a contest to determine the world's best Gunpla builder from the anime Gundam series, were held on December 6th at Gundam Base Tokyo (Koto-ku, Tokyo). It was revealed that Jin's "Creation" won the OVER-21 course for those 21 years of age and older, and he was selected to represent Japan.
By combining various RX-78-2s, the evolution of Gunpla and the history of Gundam are expressed. The "RG" series has shed its skin from the "old kits," there's a final shooting, Gundam pops out of the Operation V manual, there's even an SD Gundam... and with all sorts of gimmicks, it's a masterpiece that makes you feel like you're looking at the history of Gunpla.
The design is based on the idea of "creating a Gundam memorial statue using a giant manipulator and handpieces," and the giant manipulator is holding an airbrush-like weapon. The manipulator is a combination of Gunpla from the Full Armor ZZ Gundam, 00 Quanta, and other models, and the airbrush-like weapon is an adaptation of the Hyper Mega Cannon from the Full Armor ZZ Gundam.
The construction took about two months. Jin says that it had actually been "more than 10 years" since he last built a Gunpla, but he won the Japan competition. Although it had been a while since he last built a Gunpla, he says that "he also has experience working in modeling."
GBWC is an international competition that began in 2011, where participants compete in Gunpla construction, painting techniques, and ideas. There are three courses: U-14 for those aged 6 and over, U-20 for those aged 15 and over, and OVER-21 for those aged 21 and over. The competition is held in 16 countries and regions, including Japan, Australia, Canada, Europe & the Middle East, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, mainland China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK, the US, and Vietnam.
Starting in May, regional tournaments will be held in each area to select representatives, who will then compete in the world finals on February 7, 2026.
