"A House in the Middle of Nowhere" (ABC TV/TV Asahi) is a variety show that uses satellite photos to find a remote house. On November 30th, it will be broadcast from 6:04 pm under the title "A House in the Middle of Nowhere x Kaere Monday Mikketai!! A Luxury Collaboration! 3-Hour Special."
This will be the third collaborative broadcast in a year, and will feature the "Go Home Monday Mikke-tai!!" segment, in which Tokoro George takes on a tough location shoot with the comedy duo Sandwichman, as well as the "Lonely House" segment, in which the comedy duo Taka and Toshi will make their first appearance as studio guests.
When asked about his first location shoot with Sandwichman, he said with satisfaction, "It was fun! I may look like I'm having a tough time on the show, but the location shoot was really fun until the very end." Toshi, who knows how tough the location shoots are, complained, "Really? Anyway, it was all a serious location shoot, and the staff were completely inflexible. If the location shoot wasn't over, they would come back later and film the rest of the shoot."
In the "Lonely House" segment, a search is conducted for a house discovered in the middle of the mountains on the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture. Satellite images show no rice fields to be found, and buildings occupy the entire cleared land, with a wide road also visible. The search team proceeds from a village in the mountains towards the mountains, along a single road that runs alongside a river. Beyond the road are endless stretches of deep mountains, with no sign of life in sight.
As we continued climbing the mountain path, we came across a single-story house and a large camper trailer. We were greeted by a couple, aged 50 and 42. They live there with their two children, ages 9 and 7, and two dogs. Originally from Saitama Prefecture, they moved to the Izu Peninsula 15 years ago at the husband's request, as he "wanted to live in the mountains." They then moved to this area 10 years ago. The search team closely follows the life of this family of four deep in the mountains, as well as rice harvesting in the fields.
Seeing the family's endless smiles, Toshi commented in the studio, "This is an ideal life," to which Taka replied with an emotional expression, "It made me realize the importance of living happily." Panelist Osamu Hayashi also seemed impressed, saying, "I thought he was someone who had simply been free to do what he loved, but he's also incredibly hardworking, and makes not only his wife but also his parents happy... I was reminded of the value of freedom."
At one point during the show, Taka began talking about his dream, saying, "One day I want to go back to my hometown of Hokkaido, build a log house deep in the mountains, and open a coffee shop with my partner." Toshi responded, "A coffee shop deep in the mountains? No way!" Nevertheless, Taka declared, "It's a dream I want to make come true someday, so since I'm here as a guest today, I'll study it," and watched the video intently.
