It has been revealed that a new special effects hero series, "PROJECT RED," will be launched in the same time slot (TV Asahi) as the beloved "Super Sentai Series," which has been on air for 50 years since 1975. It will be a new special effects video series featuring a "red hero," and the first installment, "Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity," will be broadcast in 2026.
"PROJECT RED" is an acronym for "Records of Extraordinary Dimensions," which is the English translation of "Cho Jigen Eiyuu Tan." The series is characterized by the active role of "red heroes," and various works that will be broadcast in the future will crossover, adding depth to each worldview, and a multifaceted development is planned.
"Space Sheriff Gavan," which inspired the first installment, "Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity," aired from 1982 to 1983. The exploits of the hero in a metallic suit garnered support from fans not only in Japan but also overseas, leading to the production of the second installment, "Space Sheriff Sharivan," and the third installment, "Space Sheriff Shaider." It is also known as the first installment of Toei's proud Metal Hero series.
While inheriting elements of "Space Sheriff Gavan," this new production of "Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity" is being built from scratch using the latest visual expression and directing techniques. It will be a realistic story with visual expression unique to the modern era, where the "future predictions" of the time, such as AI, space exploration, and space business, have become reality.
Visuals have also been released, including a glimpse of the metallic red combat suit of the main hero, Gavan Infinity. The overall picture, characters, and story will be announced in the future.
"Super Space Sheriff Gavan Infinity" will start airing in 2026. It will be broadcast every Sunday from 9:30 AM.
