It has been announced that the TV special "Winter Arc" of the anime " Undead Unluck ," based on the manga by Yoshifumi Tozuka that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will be broadcast nationwide simultaneously on MBS and TBS from 12:10 a.m. on December 25th. The main visual featuring Andy and Fuko, Juice and Billy, and the main promotional video, which hints at a fierce battle, have been released.
The main visual depicts Andy and Fuko with challenging expressions, and Juice and Billy fighting, sparks flying. It also depicts the fiery UMA Burn and the corrupting UMA Spoiler clashing, and behind them can be seen the UMA Balance, created to maintain the balance of the world.
The main trailer features hidden stories from Billy's time as a mercenary, as well as dynamic action scenes set in raging snowy mountains and the vast sky. New characters Terror and UMA Balance also make an appearance.
It was also announced that the rock band Queen Bee will be performing the theme songs, following on from the TV series. In addition to the TV series' opening theme "01," the song "02," which is included as a coupling track on the CD, will be played as the ending theme.
Queen Bee's Avu commented, "I was surprised to hear that this special edition will continue to feature not only '01' but also the coupling song '02', and that it will be accompanied by images! '02', that '02' I love. I'm so happy that the song has been treated so respectfully within the world of the work. I can't wait to see it! I have high expectations. I hope everyone will look forward to it."
The "Winter Arc" will be broadcast as a one-hour special. It will be directed and storyboarded by Sunghoo Park , who has worked on the first season of the TV anime " Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Jujutsu Kaisen 0 the Movie." It will be produced by E&H Production, led by Park.
" Undead Unluck" began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2020, and its final chapter aired in January 2025, bringing the series to a close after nearly five years of serialization. The story follows the unusual buddy duo of Fuko, a girl with the power of unluck (bad luck) who has prepared herself for death, and Andy, a man with the power of immortality (undead) who seeks death, as they confront numerous enemies and the mysteries of the world. It also garnered attention after winning first place in the comics category of the Next Manga Awards 2020.
The TV anime was broadcast on the late-night anime slot "Super Animeism" on MBS/TBS from October 2023 to March 2024.
