Entertainer George Tokoro will appear on the November 15th episode of the talk show "Ogiyahagi's Car History: NO CAR, NO LIFE!" (BS Nippon TV, Saturday 9pm), hosted by comedy duo Ogi Hiroaki and Yahagi Ken of the comedy duo "Ogiyahagi." The episode is the second part of the 500th special, which was filmed at Tokoro's frontline base, Setagaya Base.
Tokoro-san has owned at least 84 cars. One day, the hood of his beloved car caught fire. He sold that car and bought the only Porsche in his car-loving life. He says that the car he bought by "borrowing money" brings back memories of his mother. Even after buying it, he was so short of money that he couldn't even change the tires, but he reveals an anecdote that made him realize "its performance was great."
When the group visited Tokoro-san's garage at his Setagaya base, they found 11 of his beloved cars parked there that day. What surprised everyone was the Chevrolet Tahoe, a full-size SUV with seven seats that isn't sold in Japan. Tokoro-san seems to be a fan, saying, "This is super fast." They also saw a Dodge Coronet Convertible, whose extremely linear design evokes a sense of history. Tokoro-san praised it, saying, "It's a jewel, a jewel." By chance, they ended up going on a drive with Tokoro-san...
He was once featured in a commercial for the Volkswagen Beetle, and will reveal his memories of buying and customizing the same car himself. He is also a fan of open-top cars, and will show off his "makeup techniques" to make convertibles look cool. He loves both classic and modern cars equally, and currently owns an Audi S6. The car was only introduced to Japan in 2020, but it seems his customization spirit is already stirring... He reveals his bold modification plans, saying, "Maybe I'll do it in another 5 or 10 years?"
