An event to celebrate the release of the Jujutsu Kaisen movie "Shibuya Incident Special Edition" x "Culling Game Advance Screening" of the anime " Jujutsu Kaisen ," based on the popular manga by Gege Akutami Gege, entitled " Shibuya Incident Pre-Event with TikTok," was held at TOHO Cinemas Shibuya (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) on October 30th, with voice actors including Enoki Junya, who plays Yuji Itadori , Takahiro Sakurai , who plays Suguru Geto , and Daisuke Namikawa , who plays Choso , appearing. Sakurai shared an episode in which he was surprised by Namikawa's "way of reading the script" during recording.
The " Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident Special Edition x Culling Game Advance Screening" will feature a special edition of the second season of the anime, "Shibuya Incident," as well as the first and second episodes of the third season, "Culling Game," starting November 7th. Regarding the recording of "Shibuya Incident," Sakurai shared, "What I thought was amazing was that Namikawa read the script backwards. When you're at Namikawa's level, you read backwards, and that's how you understand things." While Namikawa admitted, "No way (you can understand something by reading the script backwards)! It's just a coincidence," he added, "I'm impatient. I want to know the ending quickly." Furthermore, he revealed, with a laugh, about Suguru Geto, played by Sakurai, "Everyone kept saying 'Geto,' but I always thought it was 'Natsuabura.'"
Also appearing at the event were Asami Seto, who plays Nobara Kugisaki , and Nobunaga Shimazaki, who plays Masato.
"Jujutsu Kaisen" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from March 2018 to September 2024. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori, who is thrown into a world of battles over curses after a powerful "cursed object" is unsealed. The comic series has sold over 100 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021, while the second season, "Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu/ Shibuya Incident," aired from July to December 2023. The third season, "Culling Game Part 1," will air in January 2026. The movie version, "Jujutsu Kaisen 0," a prequel to the first season, was released in December 2021 and was a huge hit, grossing approximately 13.75 billion yen in Japan and approximately 26.5 billion yen worldwide.
