The drama series "A Little Esper" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm), starring actor Yo Oizumi, began airing on October 21st. In the first episode, the abilities of the protagonist, esper Bunta (played by Oizumi), which had not been revealed before the broadcast, were revealed.
◇The following contains spoilers.
The drama is based on an original script by Akiko Nogi, known for works such as "Unnatural" and "MIU404." After being fired and divorced, Bunta (played by Oizumi), a salaryman at rock bottom, ingests a capsule at the mysterious company "Nonamare" where he finds new employment and becomes a "slight esper." He is given a mission to save the world by the company president, Cho (played by Masaki Okada).
In the first episode, Bunta's ability is revealed: "I can hear the thoughts of people's hearts only while I'm touching them." With his ability fully developed, Bunta enjoys casually touching people on the street and eavesdropping on their thoughts, but he also hears heartbreaking voices such as "I want to quit my job" and "I want to die," which gradually makes him feel conflicted.
Meanwhile, when Bunta comes into contact with Shiki (Aoi Miyazaki), a mysterious woman who believes he is her real husband, he hears a voice saying, "I'm so happy. I want to stay like this forever. I love you." Confused by Shiki's pure feelings, Bunta remembers the rule given to him by Cho: "You must not fall in love with others."
In the second episode, which will be broadcast on the 28th, Bunta will embark on a mission to "stop a certain painter from reaching his destination." Bunta will head to Lake Ashi with his fellow esper friends Sakurasuke (Dean Fujioka), Enjaku (Atsuko Takahata), Hanzo (Shohei Uno), and Shiki.
