The characters and cast of 26 people for the sequel (to be broadcast in 2026) of the popular TBS Sunday Theatre drama "VIVANT" starring Masato Sakai have been announced, revealing that Hiroshi Abe, Nikaido Fumi, Kazunari Ninomiya, Tori Matsuzaka and others will be reprising their roles.
"VIVANT" tells the story of Nogi Yusuke, an intelligence agent for the "Separate Unit," an unofficial organization under the direct control of the Self-Defense Forces, played by Sakai, who struggles to thwart the plot of the international terrorist organization "Tent," but faces a cruel fate that surrounds him. Set in Japan and Central Asia, the film also attracted attention for its star-studded cast, including Abe, Nikaido, Matsuzaka, and Yakusho Koji, who play leading roles.
Abe will play Nozaki Mamoru of the Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security Bureau. Nikaido will play Yuzuki Kaoru, a doctor who meets Nogi Yusuke at Barca and is drawn to him. Ninomiya will reprise his role as Nokoru, Nogi Yusuke's younger brother and the number two in the tent that was demolished in the previous film, and Matsuzaka will reprise his role as Kurosu Shun, Nogi Yusuke's partner in a different unit.
Additionally, Kimura Midoriko will play the role of the squad's commander, Sakurai Satomi. Ichikawa Emazaburo will play the role of Takada Akitoshi, a squad member who was shot by Nogi Yusuke during the tent infiltration mission in the previous film, Tamaki Ryo will play the role of Hirose Mizuki, Nishiyama Jun will play the role of Kumagai Kazuki, and Hirayama Yusuke will play the role of Wada Mitsugu.
Hamada Gaku will play Tojo Shota, a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Cyber Crime Division. Bando Yajuro will play Sano Yutaro, Nozaki's boss and head of the Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security Bureau. Uchino Kenta will play Suzuki Sho, Nozaki's subordinate in the Metropolitan Police Department's Public Security Bureau, and Ryusei Ryo will play Shinjo Kotaro, Nozaki's subordinate who is revealed to be a tent monitor towards the end of the film. Hayashi Kento will play Nogi Taku, Yusuke's father who later becomes Nogon Beki. Tomie Drum will play the kind-hearted agent Drum. Voice actress Megumi Hayashibara will also reprise her role as the voice of Drum's smartphone.
Fumiyo Kohinata will play Fumiyo Kohinata, the managing director of Marubishi Trading, and Saruya Ichikawa will play Usami Tetsuya, Nogi Yusuke's boss at Marubishi Trading. Sumire Hanaoka will play Sumire Hanaoka, also known as Blue Walker, one of the world's top three hackers. Jun Inoue will continue to play Nogi Taku's older brother, Nogi Hiromichi.
Renowned Mongolian actor Barslkhagva Batbold plays Chingis, one of Barka's top police officers who relentlessly pursues Nogi and his friends and is revealed to be from the orphanage run by the tent towards the end of the film. Sae Homma plays Jameen, a mysterious girl who can tell right from wrong and lives in Japan with Nogi Yusuke and Kaoru, while popular Mongolian comedian Tsaschikher Khatanzorig plays Jameen's father, Adiel. Also appearing in the film are Haruka Uchimura as Mata, a member of the dismantled tent, Hajime Inoue as Shichi, and Takashi Yamanaka as Ali, a tent executive who emigrated overseas with the help of Yusuke Nogi.
A teaser movie has also been released. It includes the main cast, including Abe, Nikaido, and Nikaido, as well as the scenery of Azerbaijan, where the filming took place, and an impressive scene of a red bun placed on the side of the road. The movie ends with a meaningful shot of Nogi, played by Sakai, grinning.
