Legendary singer-songwriter Yutaka Ozaki passed away suddenly on April 25, 1992, at the young age of 26. WOWOW announced on October 15 that it will begin a series of special programs commemorating the 60th anniversary of Ozaki's birth, starting in November, the month of his birth. The special program will focus on his 1991 "BIRTH TOUR," which was his final concert tour.
The first feature, "Resurrection: Ozaki Yutaka YOKOHAMA ARENA 1991.5.20," will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 9:00 PM on November 29th. It depicts Ozaki's comeback live performance at Yokohama Arena (Kohoku Ward, Yokohama) on May 20th, 1991, after a hiatus of more than two and a half years. It was the first day of his "BIRTH TOUR," which promoted his album "Tanjo" released the previous year. Ozaki sang a mix of old and new songs, spoke to the audience, and attempted to convey his feelings.
In December, a documentary titled "Ozaki Yutaka Another Reality "LIVE + DOCUMENTARY"" will be broadcast and streamed, featuring concert footage from the "BIRTH TOUR" held at Koriyama Civic Cultural Center (Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture) on August 27, 1991, as well as interview footage of Ozaki himself.
In January of next year, a program titled "Ozaki Yutaka Promise Day 1991" will be broadcast and streamed, featuring the final performance of the "BIRTH TOUR," "Promise Day THE DAY," held at Yoyogi Olympic Pool (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) on October 30, 1991. This concert was Ozaki's last before his death, and the last song he sang was "Dance Hall," which he performed only on the final day.
