It was revealed on October 6th that the NHK Asadora drama series "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM), starring Mio Imada , which aired its final episode on September 26th, recorded the highest viewership numbers of any drama series, including Asadora and taiga dramas, on NHK Plus, both simultaneously and on catch-up streaming (from the day of broadcast to seven days after catch-up).
The average number of unique browsers (UBs) viewing all 130 episodes was approximately 604,000. The highest number was approximately 798,000 UBs for the 93rd episode (broadcast on August 6th).
Chief Producer Kurasaki Ken, who is in charge of production, commented, "The entire team is delighted that so many people have watched and loved ' Anpan' over the past six months. Thank you very much. We are once again grateful that we were able to deliver this story 100 years after its broadcast and 80 years after the end of the war. We have received many comments from people saying that they are watching it with their parents and children, or with three generations in total, and we were also the first TV drama series to be streamed overseas immediately after its broadcast, which has resulted in a lot of positive feedback from overseas. The broadcast has ended, but we would be happy if ' Anpan' continues to be a talisman somewhere in everyone's daily lives for 10 or 20 years. We hope to see you again someday, somewhere. If you can!"
"Anpan" is based on the married couple Takashi Yanase(1919-2013) and Nobu Komatsu(1918-1993), the manga artist and picture book writer who created "Anpanman." This "story of love and courage" will fill you with the joy of living, as it depicts how these two, who were once nobodys, overcame all sorts of troubles to become "Anpanman," the embodiment of "unreversible justice."
