It has been announced that a screening of the first film in the "Mobile Police Patlabor" anime series, "Mobile Police Patlabor: The Movie," and the second film, "Mobile Police Patlabor 2 the Movie" (both directed by Mamoru Oshii), using footage from the time of their release, will be held at Shin-Bungeiza Theater (Toshima-ku, Tokyo) from November 2nd to 8th.
It was also announced that the two films will be shown in revival screenings in theatrical audio and 4K versions. The first film will be screened on October 3rd, and the second film on October 17th, each for a limited two-week period.
"Mobile Police Patlabor: The Movie" is set in the summer of 1999, when a computer virus planted by someone causes work labors to go out of control one after another in various parts of Tokyo, and the Metropolitan Police Department's Special Vehicle Division 2nd Platoon races after the invisible culprit. It was released in 1989.
"Mobile Police Patlabor 2 the Movie" was released in 1993. The story follows the Second Platoon as they pursue a terrifying terrorist who has recreated a "war" in Tokyo.
