Yasuo Ohtagaki's manga Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt came to an end in the 20th issue of the serialized magazine Big Comic Superior (Shogakukan), released on September 26th, bringing the curtain down on its 13-year run. The issue was titled a "Completion Memorial Issue" and featured Thunderbolt Gundam on the cover, with the final chapter, "Deployment! Thunderbolt Gundam," running across 24 pages in full color.
To commemorate the release of the final 27th volume of the manga on December 19th, a screening of the animated film "Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt DECEMBER SKY" will be held at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) on the same day, and it was announced that Ohtagaki and producer Naohiro Ogata of Bandai Namco Filmworks, who worked on the anime, will also appear. A fan meeting for Ohtagaki will be held at LOFT9 Shibuya (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) on December 20th. The same issue also includes a campaign in which a total of 20 people will be invited to the screening and fan meeting by lottery.
"Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt" is a manga by Otagaki, who is known for works such as "MOONLIGHT MILE," and began serialization in "Big Comic Superior" in 2012. It depicts the battle between the Earth Federation Forces and the Principality of Zeon in the Thunderbolt sector during the One Year War, as well as the battles between the Zeon remnants, the Federation, and the South Seas Alliance after the One Year War. It has gained popularity, having been adapted into an anime and plastic model kits. The total number of copies of the comic published is over 5.5 million.
