The final episode of the drama series "Broadcasting Station Occupy" (NTV, Saturday 9pm) starring Sakurai Sho was broadcast on September 20th. The final scene of the episode depicted Ao Oni Yamato (Fuma Kikuchi) having a secret rendezvous with a certain person, which caused a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
In the final episode, Musashi (Sakurai) discovers the true identity of the "puppeteer" who is manipulating everything behind the scenes, but immediately afterwards, his partner, the blue demon Yamato, holds a knife to Musashi. Yamato pretends to cooperate with Musashi and appears to betray him at the last minute, but in fact, it was a plan to lull the demons into letting their guard down and steal the tablet that can unlock the entrance to the broadcasting station.
Meanwhile, the hostages are in danger of being killed in an explosion, and the frightened Tokyo gubernatorial candidate Okino (Kataoka Reiko) shouts, "The puppet is...Yashiro, the head of the security department!" However, Yashiro (Himari Hitomi), who was shot by Gashadokuro (Hitomi Himari), dies despite Yuko's (Manami Higa) efforts. Honjo (Kumi Takiuchi) trembles with rage, and shock runs through the command center.
Meanwhile, Hannya Ibuki (Kato Seishiro) begins his final broadcast. During the broadcast, Musashi reveals that the puppeteer's true identity is Amami (Tetsugi Shigeyuki). Musashi reveals that Amami teamed up with Yashiro to take revenge on the Chief Cabinet Secretary who took the life of his lover, and that his goal was to make Okino the leader of the country and seize national power.
Ibuki's true target was the television viewers who blindly believed and spread the numerous lies fabricated by the puppeteers. Ibuki had the viewers vote to choose whether the puppeteers should be judged by "execution by demons" or "punishment by law." In reality, the demons had previously sent televisions equipped with bombs to 3,000 people across the country, rigged to explode if the viewer chose "execution by demons." However, Musashi's words, "Is the information we saw true? Is it really right to kill someone with the touch of a finger? Please, think about it just once more," moved the masses, and Ibuki's plan was thwarted just in the nick of time... or so the story unfolded.
Afterwards, Ibuki tries to take his own life, but Musashi stops him. Ibuki is taken to hospital, and all the demons are arrested, bringing the occupation incident to a close. The final scene shows Yamato walking on the rooftop of a building, with a mysterious figure in black clothing standing with his back to Yamato. Yamato walks up to the figure, slowly places his hand on her shoulder, and smiles. The figure is a woman who looks exactly like Musashi's wife, Yuko, played by Higa.
Social media was in an uproar over this final scene. Comments included, "What?!", "Hey hey hey," "Wait, that's scary, scary, scary," "You're kidding...," "Why Yuko?!", "There's definitely going to be a sequel...," "Did she go down in the dark because her brother became a criminal?", "What's the meaning at the end?!", and "I got goosebumps at the end," as well as speculation that she may be a different person from Yuko, with some people asking, "Is she a look-alike, or a sister?" and "Is she a twin or a younger sister?"
