It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime "Vigilante: My Hero Academia Hero Academia ILLEGALS," based on the official spin-off of Kohei Horikoshi's popular manga "My Hero Academia Academia (Hiroaka)," will begin airing in January 2026.
The announcement was made at the " My Hero Academia KYOMAF Stage" at the "Kyoto International Manga and Anime Fair 2025 ( KYOMAF )" event being held in Kyoto City on September 21st. New character visuals for the main characters Haimawa Koichi, Pop☆Step, and Knuckleduster were also revealed.
Shuichiro Umeda, who plays Haimai Koichi, commented, "The second season of 'Vigilante' will finally start in January 2026! I've been looking forward to seeing Koichi and the others again. Deku and the others' story will finally reach its climax, but I hope that you will continue to be immersed in the world of My Hero Academia through Koichi and the others in the form of a side story. Thank you very much for your support!"
"Vigilante" is a manga written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Arata Betsuki, which was serialized in "Shonen Jump+" from 2017 to 2022. It is an official spin-off of "My Hero Academia" and has gained popularity not only in Japan but also overseas.
Set in Japan several years before the events of the main story of "My Hero Academia," the series depicts the drama of illegal heroes known as vigilantes who, while not being "chosen," cannot help but save those in front of them, and who are the "chosen" heroes who protect people from villains who abuse their "quirks." The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June.
