The teaser visual for the anime "GATE SEASON 2: Thus the JSDF Fought There (GATE 2)," based on Takumi Yanai's popular light novel series "Gate," has been released. It depicts the silhouette of Maritime Self-Defense Force member Hajime Tokushima, the princess Primera Luna Avion from another world, and a submarine. The series began serialization in 2006, and the TV anime "GATE: Thus the JSDF Fought There" aired in 2015 and 2016. The fact that it's being adapted for anime again, roughly 10 years after the TV anime first aired, is also a hot topic.
It was also announced that a limited number of merchandise from the film will be distributed free of charge at the Owl Japan booth at the Sasebo District Autumn Festa 2025, an event held by the Sasebo District Force of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, on September 20th.
The "Gate" series is a popular light novel series that has sold over 7.3 million copies. "GATE 2" is set on the vast oceans of another world, where the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force is active. It is directed by Toru Takahashi and produced by Studio M2.
