It has been revealed that a stellar cast of voice actors including Miyano Mamoru Miyano, Kenjiro Tsuda, Usama Michio, and Toshio Furukawa will appear in the animated feature film " Scarlet " (released November 21st), the latest work from director Summer Wars Mamoru, known for films such as "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" and "Summer Wars." Miyano and the others will play the strange inhabitants that the protagonist, Scarlett, encounters in the Land of the Dead. This will be Usama and Furukawa's first appearance in a Hosoda film, Miyano's third, and Tsuda's second.
Miyano and Tsuda will play two mysterious gravediggers who appear in Scarlett's dreams in the Land of the Dead, while Usama will play the kind-hearted caravan leader who offers a helping hand to Scarlett and modern-day Japanese nurse Hijiri, and Furukawa will play the mysterious innkeeper who tells Scarlett about the "endless place" she is aiming for.
The theme of the latest film is "living," and director Hosoda wrote the original story and screenplay. After her father was killed and her revenge failed, Scarlett once again attempts to exact revenge on her nemesis in the Land of the Dead. The Land of the Dead is a place where if one does not achieve revenge on their nemesis and reach the "endless place," they will become nothing and their existence will disappear, and Scarlett embarks on an endless journey of revenge.
Actress Mana Ashida will voice Scarlett, and Masaki Okada will voice Hijiri, a modern-day Japanese nurse who travels with Scarlett. Following its release in Japan, the film will be released in the US on December 12th.
