On September 8th, actress Chizuru Ikewaki attended the preview screening of the first week of the NHK morning drama "Asadora," which starts on September 29th, at the NHK Broadcasting Center in Shibuya, Tokyo. She spoke about her feelings about playing Bakebake, the mother of the heroine Toki (played by Akari Takaishi).
Ikewaki greeted the audience by saying, "I'm Chizuru Ikewaki , and I play the role of Fune," but then corrected herself, saying, "No, Fune... it's Fumi (laughs). When I say 'I'm Sazae,' I get it mixed up with Fune from 'Sazae-san,'" which drew laughter from the audience.
Ikewaki said, "But I wish I could become like Fune-san. She's calm and cheerful, and sometimes when someone says something wrong or rude, she'll give them a little scolding. I thought it would be great to become a bed that supports that kind of family."
In response, Takashi Okabe , who plays Toki's father, Tsukasanosuke, said, "I also imagined Namihei when I played the role." Ikewaki laughed and said, "We were able to connect. I'm glad."
Akari Takaishi, Tommy Bastow, and Ryo Yoshizawa also attended the press conference.
"Bakebake " tells the story of a couple who, together with her foreign husband, love ghost stories and shed light on the "nameless people" who had been forgotten in Meiji-era Japan as it became increasingly Westernized, and who acted as spokespeople for them. Takaishi, who stars in the film, plays the heroine, Toki Matsuno , the daughter of a fallen samurai from Yakumo Koizumi, modeled after Lafcadio Hearn 's wife, Setsu. The script is written by Fujiki Mitsuhiko, who has worked on NHK's "Asagaya Sisters' Laid-Back Life" and WOWOW's "Shooting Break Series," among others.
