On September 8th, actress Akari Takaishi attended the preview screening of the first week of the NHK morning drama "Asadora," in which she plays the Bakebake role and which begins on September 29th, held at the NHK Broadcasting Center in Shibuya, Tokyo. In keeping with the theme of the drama, she revealed the "person she envies."
Regarding her appearance in the drama, Takaishi said, "Ever since I was little, my biggest dream has been to be the heroine of a Asadora. Not just as an actor, but as Akari Takaishi, so I'm really happy just to be here. I'm glad that I've been able to act while still holding on to that feeling, and that I don't take it for granted, and I think it will continue to be my dream from now on."
When asked about an "envious" person involved in this ghost story-themed film, Takaishi mentioned Takashi Okabe, who plays the role of her father. "There is a test shoot before the actual shoot, and he does completely different things, or tries to make us laugh in scenes where Okabe is not on camera, or does things in scenes where it is definitely not funny, but serious... There is a loving envy to him," he said, drawing laughter from the audience.
In response to this, Okabe said, "Akari responded to that, and although we did things that were different from the tests from the very beginning, I think it's wonderful that they were able to work together as a team, even though it makes me jealous."
Tommy Bastow, Ryo Yoshizawa, and Chizuru Ikewaki also attended the press conference.
"Bakebake " tells the story of a couple who, together with her foreign husband, love ghost stories and shed light on the "nameless people" who had been forgotten in Meiji-era Japan as it became increasingly Westernized, and who acted as spokespeople for them. Takaishi, who stars in the film, plays the heroine, Toki Matsuno , the daughter of a fallen samurai from Yakumo Koizumi, modeled after Lafcadio Hearn 's wife, Setsu. The script is written by Fujiki Mitsuhiko, who has worked on NHK's "Asagaya Sisters' Laid-Back Life" and WOWOW's "Shooting Break Series," among others.
