It has been revealed that a brand new theatrical version of the anime " Assassination Classroom ," based on the popular manga by Yusei Matsui , entitled " Assassination Classroom The Movie: Everyone's Time," will be produced and will be released on March 20, 2026. The TV anime version of the series aired from January to June 2015 and January to June 2016, and the new theatrical version will feature completely new episodes that have not previously been adapted into anime. The new theatrical version will be the third part of the anime's 10th anniversary project. It will be a "revival" of the series after approximately 10 years since the TV anime aired.
The cast from the TV series, including Jun Fukuyama as Korosensei, will reprise their roles, and the film will be directed by Masaki Kitamura, a Sunrise veteran who has worked on numerous TV anime series and will be making her directorial debut with this film. Makoto Uezu, who wrote the screenplay and composition for the TV series, will be in charge of the script, and Aya Higami will be in charge of character design. The film will be produced by Lerche.
A teaser visual has been released, depicting Nagisa Shiota and Karma Akabane walking down a corridor in the old school building, decorated with visuals from the TV series and past events. Korosensei is holding a photo in his hand as he looks at the two from behind with a "smirking" smile. A Teaser trailer featuring plenty of new cuts has also been released on YouTube.
Director Kitamura commented, "I am truly happy to be able to bring this classroom back to everyone who has loved Assassination Classroom for so long. I wanted to preserve the atmosphere that Director Kishi (Seiji) has cherished, while adding a new dimension and a powerful impact that is unique to the theatrical version. I would be gratified if, after watching the film, people think, 'I really loved Assassination Classroom.'"
Uezu, who is working on the script, said, "This was when I was still a rising star as a screenwriter. I remember being very honored and nervous to be entrusted with the important role of series composition for a Weekly Shonen Jump work. We were fully prepared, full of energy, and our collaboration with Yusei Matsui was perfect, and the Assassination Classroom project was a great success. However, of course, it was also made within constraints, so I felt like I wanted to do this and that too. Ten years have passed since then, and yes, we are going to do this and that! This movie will complete the anime Assassination Classroom. Don't worry, it's an all-new work!"
Hinoue, who is in charge of character design, said, "As a fan, these are the stories I wanted to see in the anime back then...I never thought they would be made into an anime after 10 years. For those who have only recently discovered Assassination Classroom, as well as those who watched it 10 years ago, please think of it as a class reunion and come to the theater to meet everyone from Class E and Korosensei."
Movie ticket cards for the new movie will go on sale at theaters nationwide from September 19th (with some exceptions). As a bonus for purchasing a movie ticket at the theater, you will receive one of four double-sided illustration cards at random, featuring newly drawn illustrations of the time spent by Class 3-E. All episodes of the first season of the TV anime will be streamed sequentially on YouTube from 8pm on September 13th.
"Assassination Classroom" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from July 2012 to March 2016. The story revolves around Korosensei, a mysterious creature who evaporated 70% of the moon, becoming the homeroom teacher of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Middle School, a school full of dropouts, and the students attempting to assassinate him.
The TV anime aired from January to June 2015 and January to June 2016, and the film "Assassination Classroom: 365 Days of Time," a compilation of the TV anime and new original episodes, was released in 2016. The spin-off, "Korosensei Q (Quest)!", was also made into an anime. A live-action film starring Hey! Say! JUMP's Ryosuke Yamada was also released.
As the first part of the anime's 10th anniversary project, all 47 episodes of the TV anime have been rebroadcast since April on Fuji TV and other networks. As the second part, the radio program "Assassination Classroom All Night Nippon GOLD" (Nippon Broadcasting System), commemorating the anime's 10th anniversary, was broadcast on August 22nd.
