39-year-old TV personality and actor Saher Rose will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 pm on August 7th. Saher was an orphaned child during the Iran-Iraq War and was placed in an orphanage when she was taken in by an adoptive mother and moved to Japan, where her adoptive mother's husband was working.
After his parents divorced, Saher became a single-parent household, but his adoptive mother, who was opposed to adopting a child, had no one to turn to and was homeless for a time. With the help of those around her, Saher's mother was able to start working, and Saher began attending school. However, because up until that point she had only been able to study Japanese and had not studied any other subjects, her grades were at rock bottom. She managed to enter a part-time agricultural high school, but had given up on her adoptive mother's hope of going to university, thinking it would be impossible.
She says that her teacher at the time helped her study outside of class, saying, "If you study, you can do it. There are no stupid kids out there," and thanks to him she was able to go on to university. Even now, that teacher still sends her clippings whenever he sees any of her articles.
