An orchestral concert performed by actress Hiroko Yakushimaru in 2024 will be broadcast on NHK BS from 8:00 pm on July 25th.
Yakushimaru, who made her debut as a singer in November 1981 with the theme song of the same name for the movie "Sailor Suit and Machine Gun," in which she starred, took on the challenge of a concert backed by a full orchestra. Satoshi Takebe produced and performed on piano, and Naoya Iwaki conducted the orchestra.
Throughout the entire program, you can enjoy Yakushimaru's fresh yet deep singing voice, as well as many revitalized classics such as "Detective Story," "Woman - From the Tragedy of W," "I Want to Know You More," "Gentlemen's Alliance," "Main Theme," "Cheer Up," "The Era," "If We Meet in Our Dreams," and "A Song for You and Me."
Yakushimaru said, "This was my first concert with a full orchestra, and I really enjoyed singing thanks to the reassurance of Takebe-san producing and the world view created by Iwaki-san's fresh orchestral arrangements. It's been more than 40 years since my debut, and I've been able to discover new faces in the songs I've been singing since then."
